Keekee Speaks

Keekee Speaks Here!

Years ago, movie night meant it was Friday night and that a bunch of us were going to meet up at the theater after work to watch a new release on the big screen. Then if became the night that my boyfriend and I reserved for a date each week, with a quick dinner at a casual restaurant and a late movie at the theater.

Now it means a quick stop at the gas station or drug store to rent a $1 movie from the Redbox vending machine. I’ll watch the movie on my TV in bed and munch on a bowl of popcorn that I make in the microwave.

Times sure do change.

The Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays. It’s always a happy celebration no matter what your religion or family has to do with it. There are fireworks, parades and picnics. It’s a great day.

I just learned that Willie has released a new album. I can’t wait to hear it! I have loved Willie Nelson since I was a very little girl. I wonder if he is going out on tour again this year to promote the new album? Hope so!

Each week a friend of mine who hosts an internet radio show will send out an email blast about his show. He wants to remind people to listen, but he also wants to stimulate discussions, so he asks a question in the email and reads a bunch of the answers on air. Today he wanted everyone to name a song with the word or a variation of the word “rain” in it. My first thought was “Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head,” from the Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid movie.

The passing of Patrick Swayze is a great loss to the entertainment business but even more than that, to his family.  This man was one heck of an actor and man could he shake his butt!!  That’s what he told Barbara Walters that he wanted to be remembered for.  I had never seen this performance of Patrick and his wife Lisa Niemi before but it shows me just how very much they loved each other.  My heart goes out to Lisa and the rest of his family.  Enjoy as he would have wanted us all to.
