Keekee Speaks Here!

I learned today of the passing of not only a great actor, but someone that cared enough about others to donate everything he made from his line of salad dressings to children with cancer.  This amazing person was known to the world as the many different characters he played in movies like ‘Hud’, or ‘Cool Hand Luke’ and many more than I have time or room to write.

Paul Newman died of cancer.  I didn’t even know he was sick.  How ironic that the man that created the camp for children with cancer called “The Hole in the Wall Gang” would die from the same disease he tried so desperately to ease in children with this camp.  I know that there is a brighter star in the skies now and it probably shines a beautiful baby blue like his eyes.

The world lost a great human being and not just a great actor.  Joanne Woodward lost the love of her life of 50 years.  What accomplishments this one man made and that doesn’t even include a single Oscar win or nomination of which there were many.  We will miss you Paul and especially that wonderful smile and those tender, beautiful blue eyes.

I have been a fan of George Michaels for as long as I can remember.  He’s had some problems in the past with not wanting to face the he’s gay and also with drugs.  It seems he’s been caught in the bathroom in part of London with drugs yet again.  All he was given was a slap on the wrist.

When it comes to drug abuse, sometimes a slap on the wrist might be what is needed but usually, rehabilitation should be the slap.  If we want to save these famous people from themselves, we need to make them or help them to fight the demons inside them that drives them to self destruct so many times.  But you see, that’s my opinion and I’m not sure anyone else feels the same way I do unfortunately.  Besides, what is it with George and bathrooms?????

Can you believe that a bank has filed bankruptcy?  Sounds impossible to me but Lehman Brothers filed bankruptcy today.  They tried to find a buyer over the weekend but had no luck.  Of course no one wants a bank that is bankrupt.  All of these high profile banks got greedy if you ask me.  They gave mortgages to people they knew darn good and well couldn’t keep the payments up and now they’re paying the price.

In the end, we all are going to pay the price for greed.  Everyone should know that you don’t owe more monthly than you make and survive but somehow we forgot that important lesson.  I don’t know if it was the banks that made us think we could afford twice the house our income said we could afford or what but something went very wrong and now there are a lot of people that are losing their homes because of it.  What a shame.

We all know very well what September 11th is to our country but now it seems Japan has it’s own disaster to equate with September 11th.  It seems two powerful earthquakes hit first Indonesia and then Japan.  The quake that hit Indonesia was a 6.6 magnitude while the one that hit Japan was a 6.9 magnitude.  The amazing part is no one was apparently hurt or killed by either quake.  That just goes to show that there are angels on earth.  Luckily there were no Tsunami’s either as the result of either quake.

Last weeks plane crash in Madrid Spain was an awful loss of life.  Now they are saying that only 86 of the 154 people that died have been identified and they may not be able to identify all of the remains.  They are using DNA to try and identify the badly burned remains.

What a horrific way to die.  I hope they died instantly and not slowly.  What the families must be going through is unimaginable to me.  Even when they are given remains to bury, will they be sure it’s their loved one?  I sure hope so for the families sakes.  My heart goes out to them all.
