Keekee Speaks Here!

Everyone knows that the Friday after Thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day of the year.  Everyone knows that the sales begin at 5 a.m. in most stores.  Some crazy people will be at stores as early as midnight to be the first one in the store.  Well here’s a tragic story about how stupid people can be to get to the bargains before everyone else.  The story read:

A worker was killed in the crush Friday after a throng of shoppers eager for post-Thanksgiving bargains burst through the doors at a suburban Wal-Mart, authorities said. Nassau County police said the 34-year-old man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at about 6 a.m. ET, an hour after the store in Valley Stream on Long Island opened.

A police statement said a throng of shoppers “physically broke down the doors, knocking him to the ground.” The exact cause of death “will be determined by the medical examiner’s office,” the police stated.

Can you believe that?  What kind of idiots would trample someone and not stop to help them up?  Is saving a few dollars more important than some one’s life?  NO!!!  They need to do something about things like that so that it never happens again.  Maybe people could register online to be in line in an orderly way.  I don’t know but there has to be a better way.

As his presidency winds down, there are a lot of convicted criminals trying to get a pardon from him.  Here’s a list of some of the high profile people I think he should pardon but as usual, it’s my opinion and we all know I love to give my opinion.

Martha Stewart is the first one I think should be pardoned.  I don’t think she really did any of the insider trading.  I think she just got nabbed because of being a successful woman but that’s my opinion.

Michael Milkin is another one that should be pardoned.  Yeah he was convicted in the greediest time in our history, the 80′s, but has donated so much to cancer research that I do believe he should receive a pardon.

Sen. Ted Stevens is one that I have mixed feelings about.  He did serve the country well but the greed bug got him and he is 85 years old.  I guess my sentimental heart just doesn’t want to see him die in prison.  I could live with him getting a pardon.

Texas border patrol guards………..that one I don’t think he should pardon.  Sure they were trying to keep illegals out of the country but to shoot an unarmed man in the back……..I don’t think so.

Marion Jones is one I think should be pardoned.  She has been disgraced enough.  She needs to be able to go home to her children.

As for the others on the list I saw on slate.com, I don’t think any of the rest of them should receive a pardon at all.

Remember when there was that huge recall of toys made in China because there was lead in the paint on the toys?  I was absolutely horrified by the thought that they were using lead paint on children’s toys and shipping them all over the world.  Lead poisoning is awful and it’s affects can be irreversible too.

China’s latest product safety scandal involves dairy products tainted with the industrial chemical melamine. It was apparently added to raw milk to fool protein-level tests. Large doses of melamine can cause kidney stones and lead to kidney failure. Hundreds of children were hospitalized.

The saddest part of it all is there are still approximately 1,300 children in the hospital because of the contaminated milk.  What kind of company or country cares more about profit than they do their children?  If I’m not mistaken, Chinese couples are only allowed to have one child or face a huge fine or something like that and yet a child’s life means nothing more to them then to use lead paint and an industrial chemical to fool protein-level tests?

The whole world should boycott any product from China.  How can you trust a country that continually shows the world they don’t care about their own people so that should show just how much other people in the world mean to them.  Perhaps the products weren’t meant for their own children but children of the world.  Oh I don’t even want to think like that.

Shame on me for thinking that thought and shame on them for hurting so many innocent children for the sake of making a buck or two but that’s just my opinion and I do tend to speak what’s on my mind.  Hopefully I didn’t offend anyone with my opinion but if I did, let me know your opinion.

My car isn’t but a few years old and the darn thing broke down on me today.  I hate trying to find a good mechanic that won’t rip me off.  It’s a pain in the rear.  My car isn’t under warranty anymore so I can either take it to a dealer and pay out the nose, or I can take it to a local mechanic and run the risk of them ripping me off big time.  There are web sites out there that helps you find reputable mechanics so I checked with them and found someone to fix it.

Barack Obama is our president elect, as if no one knows this by now.  The whole world knows this and quite honestly, seems to be rejoicing in it.  That’s wonderful I think.  We have been, shall we say, less than favorable lately with the world.  Obama has walked into a lot of controversy with the wars, enormous financial problems, and just an all around mess if you ask me.

He seems to be up for the challenge but we shall see.  I’m pretty sure he’ll surround himself with the best of the best to help advise and guide him through the problems at hand.  I read an article that said in Africa, there has been a lot of babies born since he was elected and a lot of them were named Barack, Obama, and Michele.  That’s pretty neat.

Well President Elect Obama, you have made history just by being elected.  Now let’s see what type of history you make with your presidency.  I bet it’ll be good because he holds so much in his hands for the future of not only America but for all Americans, red, black, yellow, or white.  Make us all proud Mr. President.
