I feel so bad for my little guy. He is having such a hard time in Kindergarten. They have a really advanced program this year and even preschool didn’t prepare him for this. They are doing first and second grade work in Kindergarten. What is that? They changed the program so much that a lot of the kids are having a hard time. I am seriously considering moving, so he can get back to the basics he needs.
There is a wonderful elementary school with a normal kindergarten program near my parents house. They are just over the county line and the school district is different, so the programming is different as well. I hate to leave this house after all of the work I have put into it, but my sons schooling is more important. They just push these kids too hard no a days and then the kids hate school and the schools wonder why. All I can do right now is shake my head and try to figure out my next step.

I am very happy that the meeting with the teachers went well. WE discussed some of the issues that my son has and how he is doing in their classes. I was really happy to learn that all of his teachers feel that he is the best student in their class. He was the only student to get any awards for the last report card in the entire fifth grade. I was stunned. Apparently they have a high level for academic excellence and only award kids for hitting that mark. I am so proud of him! I can’t wait to share this with the family!

Well I have to get off of here for a while. I have a meeting with my sons teachers and counselor in about a half an hour. Hopefully we can get some stuff resolved about helping him in school. He gets good grades but is having a hard time with a couple of bullies and dealing with the ADHD. The meds help him a lot but he really needs to talk to someone. Of course he doesn’t want to and pitched a fit about it last night, but I told him he has no choice in the matter. Hopefully he doesn’t give us too much trouble over it. Anyway, I will talk to everyone later. Have a great morning.

I hate that the school bus transportation department changed the kids bus driver. This new driver is always late or out sick completely and none of the kids like her at all. She also has no control over the older kids on the bus and there are inappropriate conversations happening on the bus in front of the smaller children. I have made a complaint about it and hopefully it will be rectified.
I also told them that they needed to put Donna back on the bus as the driver. Their old bus driver was really nice and always on time. At Halloween, she stopped by with a treat bag for my kids. She told me that she really missed her old bus and the kids on it. I hope the transportation department takes my advice and has her come back as the driver.

Boy kindergarten is not like it used to be. They push these kids so hard, so fast, they can barely keep up. I am appalled at the level they expect form them. My older kids weren’t pushed like this and they excel at school. I am afraid the school is pushing so hard that they will make these little kids not like school. I do believe that I will be going to the next school board meeting to make a complaint about this curriculum, as the teachers say that it is the school board that is pushing this. Wish me luck.
