Patio

Friday, May 25th, 2012

Well the patio is almost done. We put in paving stone from the side of the house and driveway all the way up to the back patio to walk on. This helps me in a big way when I wear high heels to go out. I don’t have to worry about them sinking in the dirt and grass, thereby ruining the heels of the shoes. That is a definite plus considering how much shoes cost these days. We put patio pavers in the back as well. Before we had a wooden deck, but now it is much nicer with the pavers.

We still have to do the landscape lighting installation though. I have a very particular idea about what I want for the lighting. I want something that has the ability to have different lighting settings. One for parties and such so that there is a lot of light and one that is subtle. This way I don’t have to have bright lights all of the time. I can have the subtle lighting that looks pretty as well. I am so excited about the stuff we have been doing to our house and yard. It is going to look amazing when we are finally finished. I have already gotten a lot of compliments on it and I am very happy with it so far.

Cleaning the garage out

Tuesday, April 17th, 2012

Yup, it’s that time of year. Spring clean the house and then comes the garage. It’s the day my man hates above all others, especially when I have a yard sale and get rid of a lot of crap we don’t need anymore or just don’t use. Sometimes it is stuff that is worn and we just want to replace, but someone else can use, so into the yard sale it goes. I use the money to buy things for summer that the kids will use playing and having fun. Works out great for me.

My garden

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012

I am thinking about putting an arbor in the garden, and perhaps a gazebo. I think they would look very nice on the side of the house though instead of the back or front. Too often we leave the sides of our houses plain with no decor. A smallish garden on the side would be like a little piece of solitude. It can be half hidden, but allowing enough of a view through the garden arbors to make it look appealing. It would definitely be a nice place to hang out to read a book or just relax if a person wanted a little time alone.

I think a wooden arbors, would look the best and be easiest to maintain. I am not a vinyl person myself, although it is easy to clean. Our winters are harsh enough to make vinyl go brittle and crack or break. Wood can always be repainted if need be and doesn’t cost too much to do. I think a golden rain tree would look lovely and provide shade over a gazebo. I think I will start planning this immediately.

Gardens

I love flowers. I love to garden. I am planning a beautiful flower bed for my front yard as soon as the weather permits. I wish my flower garden was already on bloom so I could use them for flower bouquets for Valentines day, but since they are not I will use Serenata buy flower to send flowers to my mom and sister. I always send them something on the holidays, just to let them know how much I love them. I know that they appreciate it because they always call and thank me even though it is not necessary.

I have to figure out which flowers I want in my garden. I have a general idea of how I want the beds to go, but need to choose a theme or decide if I just want a riot of color. I love the planning part as much as the actual doing. Working in the garden is so very peaceful and a good place for me to meditate as I work the soil. If you want a good spring time hobby, then you should try gardening.

Incredibly bored

Tuesday, January 17th, 2012

Gosh with the kids at school all day and my honey at work as well, I am so bored. I wish I really had something to do. The house is not that big that it takes anytime for a thorough cleaning and I got all of that done yesterday. Guess I will read a book out on the deck and take in some fresh air. The yard is so nice and peaceful when the kids are in school. Sometimes I even have deer or wild turkeys walk across the lawn from the woods. Those are always magical moments.
